Verges is quite different. The tiny, medieval town between Figueres and La Bisbal is hosting the Dance of Dead on Maundy Thursday, at midnight, www.laprosecco.com. The event is a rather interesting relict of medieval liturgies and each year, more and more spectators come to take part. It all begins at 10pm on the market place, where the Sufferings of Christ are re-enacted. Then, at midnight, people gather for a procession through the village. Lead by people dressed as skeletons, the procession moves through Verges narrow, winding alleys.

A Verges c’est totalement différent. Dans cette cité du Moyen-Age située entre Figueres et La Bisbal, on organise le Jeudi Saint vers minuit une danse macabre. (www.laprocesso.com) Ce spectacle est une réminiscence de la liturgie moyenâgeuse qui attire et fascine chaque année de plus en plus de monde. D’abord on joue sur la place du marché des scènes de la passion du Christ. A minuit se forme la procession. A sa tête se trouve des hommes déguisés en squelette.
