Fluttering ags in the wind, sails in all imaginable colours speeding along in the water in front of me and loud music booming from the big loud- speakers. In between the presenter’s announcements. On the beach of Sant Pere Pescador there is a lot going on. Hot surfer boys, waiting for their turn in the race, excited fans and family members, curious tourists, big tents and lots of colourful windsurf sails and boards. The wind is howl- ing in my ears and sand is scratching in my eyes. First, I have to get my bearings. After a few photos, I nd a place between all the surfboards lying in the sand. I’ll sit down, wrapped up in a towel. Why didn’t I put on more clothes?... Well, after some time I don’t care anymore, because the windsurfers fascinate me so much I forget everything around me... Here in Sant Pere Pescador, on the beach of Cortal de la Devesa, which provides the perfect conditions because of the Tramontana wind, the PWA World Tour was taking place from the 23rd to 28th of May. Af- ter Korea and Japan, Catalonia was the third stop of the PWA World Cup Tour, where the male windsurfer elite comes together for the world championship of windsur ng.
What started 25 yeas ago as a meeting among windsurfer friends, is today a famous competition known worldwide, organized by the PWA (Professional Windsurfers Association) with seat in Hawaii, which holds it every year under the name “PWA Worldtour”.

Les drapeaux ottant au vent, les voiles de toutes les couleurs, qui passent rapidement et la musique forte de grands haut-parleurs. De temps en temps, on entend les annonces des modérateurs. Sur la plage de Sant Pere Pescador il y a beaucoup de monde et beaucoup à voir. Bels sur- feurs qui attendent le départ, les fans enthousiastes, les grandes tentes et beaucoup d’équipement pour le surf. Le vent sif e dans les oreilles et le sable dans les yeux. Premièrement, je dois m’orienter. Après quelques photos, je cherche un espace entre les planches de surf dans la sable et je m’assis sur ma serviette. Je regrette de n’avoir pas m’habiller assez chaud. Ça m’est égal, le tumulte dans l’eau attire mon attention, d’une façon que je xe encore beaucoup de temps comme magnétisé sur la mer et oublie tous autour de moi...
De 23. au 28. Mai, les championnats mondiaux de la planche à voile ont lieu ici sur la plage Cortal de la Devesa à Sant Pere Pescado. La Catalogne était après la Corée et le Japon le troisième arrêt pour PWA World Tour, où l’élite internationale s’est assemblée.
Ce qui a commencé il y a 25 ans comme un rencontre entre amis du surf, est aujourd’hui une compétition mondiale connue, organisée du PWA (Professional Windsurfers Association), ayant leur siège en Hawaii et chaque année il a lieu le « Surf World Cup » sous le nom « PWA World Tour ».
