Castell de Peralada Festival 2017 dominated by hot summer rhythms and lyric poetry
The 31st Castell de Peralada Festival takes place from the 6th of July to the 17th of August, with 23 fascinating shows.
Once again, the Festival showcases its passion for dance. The Béjart Ballet Lausanne will be opening on 6 July with a performance paying tribute to its former maestro and founder to mark ten years since his death. The ballet “Beauty and the Beast“ by Malandain Ballet Biarritz, with live music from Tchaikovsky’s score by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, comes to the Catalan stage for the rst time. Straight from Havana, the festival will close with the début in Spain of Carlos Acosta’s new Cuban company, Acosta Danza.
This year, the Festival hosts three operas: The premiere in Spain of Dido and Aeneas by Purcell with prestigious Paul Agnew directing the 22nd Ambronay European Baroque Academy. The world première of the new opera by composer Alberto García Demestres, “La Straordinaria vita di Sugar Blood“, and the première in Spain of a new “Madame Butter y“. Le programme du 31ème Festival Castell de Peralada a été déjà rendu public ; Une édition qui regroupera 23 spectacles et qui se tiendra du 6 juillet au 17 août.
Une fois de plus, le Festival revendique sa passion pour la danse. La com- pagnie Béjart Ballet Lausanne inaugurera le Festival le 6 juillet avec un spectacle que la compagnie suisse a créé pour rendre hommage à celui qui fut son maître et créateur, l’année du dixième anniversaire de sa mort. Le ballet « La Belle et la Bête » interprété Malandain Ballet Biarritz, sur une musique en direct avec une partition de Tchaïkovski jouée par l’Orchestre symphonique du Pays Basque, est représenté pour la première fois en Catalogne. La nouvelle compagnie cubaine de Carlos Acosta, Acosta Danza, qui se produira pour la première fois en Espagne, assurera la clôture du Festival.
Le Festival accueille cette année trois opéras. La première en Espagne de « Dido and Aeneas de Purcell » - version avec mise en scène – interprété par le chef d’orchestre Paul Agnew à la tête de la 22ème Académie baroque européenne d’Ambronay. La première mondiale du nouvel opé-
