Vom 16. bis ins 19. Jh. war Kuba eine spanische Kolonie. Viele Menschen machten sich damals auf, um in Übersee ihr Glück zu versuchen und ein neues Leben zu beginnen. Einige verdienten sich tatsächlich ein Vermö- gen und errichteten nach ihrer Rückkehr prachtvolle Häuser. Besonders viele Beispiele dafür ndet man in Begur, wo man die gemeinsame Ver- gangenheit mit der Karibikinsel nicht vergessen hat. Unter dem Motto „Begur-Cuba: eine lmreife Geschichte“ ndet Anfang September die Fira d’Indians statt, die neben einem Markt mit kolonialen Gütern viel Spekta- kel in Straßen und zahlreiche Filmevents bietet. Währenddessen sorgen kubanische Musiker, gutes Wetter und leckere Mojitos auf den Straßen für Stimmung. Wer hätte gedacht, dass Geschichte so viel Spaß macht?

From 16th to 19th century Cuba was a Spanish colony. In those times a lot of people emigrated to the Caribbean island to start a new life and some of them really made a fortune. After coming back to their home country they built gorgeous houses. A lot of good examples can be found in Be- gur, where the shared past never has been forgotten. At the beginnings of September took place the Fira dels indians themed “Begur-Cuba: a movie story”, which offered a market with colonial products, spectacles in the streets and a lot of events concerning movies. Some were lmed during the festival, others showed in the local cinema. Meanwhile, Cuban musicians, good weather and delicious mojitos put the visitors into good humor. Who thought that history can be that funny?
