Tamariu
Tamariú, named for its tamarind tress and pines, is the smallest of the three fishing villages. Located south off Begur, the town consists of just about 90 inhabitants. Tamarui lies huddled against a rocky bay, surrounded by thick pine forests. Fishing nets and buoys lean against white houses. The first tourists have arrived already and can be seen sunbathing on the small patch of sandy beach. The sea is colorful with the small dots that are really fishing boats.
Of course, this little town is well known already, and visitors arrive in herds, especially on the weekends. Off peak, however, Tamaríu is a dream come true for the incurably romantic yearning for peaceful and silent. We rec- ommend trips on the water to the caves Cuevas d’en Gispert and de El Bisbe. It also is a lovely place for scuba diving. At the village’s outskirts, a couple of frogmen waddle along the rocks and then disappear head first in the water. We manage to get hold of a free seat in one of the ca- fés near the beach and watch the vibrant buzz of activity at the beach.

Tamariu
Tamariu doit son nom aux tamariniers qui dominent le paysage à côté des pins. C’est le plus petit des trois villages côtiers près de Palafrugell, un peu plus au sud que Begur. Il ne compte que 90 habitants. Tamariu se trouve dans une crique entourée de rochers et de denses forêts de pins. Contre les murs des maisons reposent des nasses et des bouées. Les premiers tou- ristes sont arrivés sur la plage. Les bateaux de pêche de toutes les couleurs tanguent sur l’eau. Ce village ne fait pas exception : évidemment il a été « découvert » depuis longtemps. Nombreux sont les visiteurs – surtout les weekends d’été. Mais avant la saison (ou bien après) Tamariu reste un endroit de rêve pour les romantiques et tous ceux qui cherchent le calme. En bateau on peut se rendre aux grottes Cuevas d’En Gispert et de El Bis- be. Pour les plongeurs aussi, il y a de quoi se faire plaisir. Avec leur tenue d’homme grenouille on les voit souvent disparaître dans l’eau en fin de journée. Depuis le café au bord de la plage où nous nous sommes instal- lés, nous pouvons contempler tranquillement tout ce qui se passe autour.
